Jungheinrich AG, headquartered in Hamburg, is a publicly traded German company specializing in intralogistics, warehousing, and material handling technology. The company ranks third worldwide and second in Europe in these segments.
The German company Jungheinrich AG is one of the three largest companies worldwide in the fields of intralogistics, warehousing, and material handling technology. The mechanical engineering and intralogistics company focuses on products and services related to forklifts. Founded in Hamburg in 1953, the company remains headquartered there today.
In 2019, Jungheinrich AG generated sales of around 4.1 billion euros; about a quarter of that in Germany.
Since 2010, the number of employees at this internationally operating company has grown steadily, reaching almost 18,400 in 2019. Around 41 percent of the employees are based in Germany.
Jungheinrich sold approximately 112,900 industrial trucks worldwide last year. In addition to selling new equipment, Jungheinrich is increasingly focusing on the rental and used equipment business, racking and storage systems, as well as maintenance, repair and spare parts services.
Jungheinrich's biggest competitors in the industrial truck market are the Japanese company Toyota, with a market share of over 27 percent, and the German Kion Group, which controls 14 percent of the market. Jungheinrich has a market share of nine percent.
Jungheinrich's European rental fleet comprises approximately 38,100 rental forklifts with 600 vehicle variants, offering lifting capacities from 1 to 42 tons and lifting heights up to 17 meters.
Since 2006, Jungheinrich has offered businesses a range of products for stacking and lifting, transport, warehousing, office and workshop equipment, occupational safety, and environmental protection through its online shop, Jungheinrich Profishop. The selection comprises approximately 36,000 items: from the Jungheinrich product range, the traditional "Ameise" brand, and products from other manufacturers. Profishop has also been available in Austria since 2007.
Jungheinrich is represented worldwide by 40 company-owned sales and service subsidiaries. In addition, Jungheinrich is present through dealers, particularly in overseas markets. The Group operates in approximately 120 countries; it runs a logistics center for Eastern Europe in Bratislava and an assembly plant in Qingpu, China. In Germany, it operates five sales centers with a total of 23 branches.
