Germany is lagging behind when it comes to artificial intelligence (AI). This emerges from the recently published VDE Tec Report 2019 . Accordingly, only one percent of the electrical engineering and information technology member companies and universities surveyed for the study are of the opinion that Germany is playing a pioneering role when it comes to AI. Respondents also tend to see Europe as a whole in a negative light. North America and China, on the other hand, are at the forefront. There are many reasons for this unflattering location description, for example a lack of financial resources. “Over half of the companies and universities complain that there are not enough funds in Germany and Europe to implement revolutionary technical changes,” says VDE boss Hinz.
