Companies in Germany are making little progress in implementing the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Shortly before the new regulation came into effect, a Bitkom survey revealed that only 24 percent of companies were GDPR-compliant – and four months later, nothing has changed, as the Statista graphic shows. "The results are sobering. Many companies have clearly miscalculated the GDPR implementation requirements. For others, complete implementation isn't a matter of timing, but rather an unattainable ideal," says Susanne Dehmel, Bitkom's Managing Director for Legal Affairs and Security.
