38 percent of German participants in the Digital Society Index 2018 believe that digitalization will help solve the world's most pressing challenges (e.g. poverty, health problems, environmental destruction). This means that German citizens' technological optimism for the future is relatively low, as a look at the graphic shows. The situation is different in China: 71 percent of respondents there believe that digital technology can make the world a better place.
