Globally, eSports is on its way to becoming a billion-dollar business. In this country, the Federal Association of Interactive Entertainment Software (BIU) believes professionalized gaming is already on its way to becoming a mainstream sport. “But not only is the professional eSports sector growing, more and more sports groups at universities and local clubs are also emerging in Germany,” said the BIU in a press release . Survey data published there shows that awareness of eSports is increasing. 29 percent of online users can now relate to the term - among 16 to 24 year olds, more than half even know what digital sport is all about.
