Unsocial networks

Social networks allow you to stay in touch with friends, exchange opinions, read news – or maintain your own profile. It's clear that everyone presents the best possible version of themselves. And that can lead to unhappiness, because the usually carefully selected photos, posts, and places you've been are rarely representative of the life you actually lead. A survey by the software company Kaspersky of almost 17,000 respondents from 18 countries worldwide shows why many feel worse after using social media. For 61 percent of respondents, this is the case when someone unfriends them. 59 percent feel down when they see a photo from a party they weren't invited to. And a full 57 percent generally feel that other people's lives are better, as the Statista graphic shows. While social media has the potential to bring people closer together, it doesn't necessarily make them happier.
