Spacetop for Windows: Mobile working of the future thanks to AR glasses and AI laptops
Sightful Spacetop: Virtual workspace for Windows – a 100-inch display in your pocket? How Spacetop is revolutionizing mobile working with AR
Sightful, a pioneer in augmented reality, launched “Spacetop for Windows” on April 24, 2025, a groundbreaking software solution that transforms regular Windows laptops into immersive work environments. The solution combines AR glasses with advanced AI PC technology to create a portable 100-inch virtual workspace. Following its initial hardware-focused approach, the company is now concentrating on a software solution specifically designed for the growing category of AI laptops, and is available in Germany for the first time – a significant step forward for mobile productivity and workplace privacy.

From hardware to software: Sightful's strategic realignment
Sightful, founded in 2020 by former Magic Leap executives, has specialized in augmented reality solutions for the productive workplace since its inception. The company initially developed the "Spacetop G1," a complete AR laptop offered as a standalone hardware product for $1,900. With the introduction of "Spacetop for Windows," Sightful is now undergoing a strategic shift to a purely software-based solution for existing Windows laptops.
“Spacetop is precisely the reason AI PCs were developed – it unlocks the true potential of the architecture,” explains Tamir Berliner, CEO and co-founder of Sightful. During the four-year development phase, the most frequent question from users and businesses was: “When will it be available for Windows?” The proliferation of AI laptops with dedicated NPUs (Neural Processing Units) has not only accelerated the company’s mission but also opened up new possibilities for AR workspaces combined with AI power.
The transition to a software solution also meant restructuring for Sightful – from an initial 60 employees in 2024 to the current 35, after the company parted ways with its hardware team. Despite this downsizing, the company has raised an impressive $61 million in venture capital.
How it works: Virtual 100-inch displays anywhere
Spacetop for Windows transforms regular Windows laptops into powerful AR workstations. At the heart of the system is the software, which, in combination with AR glasses, creates an immersive, private, and infinitely expandable virtual workspace. The virtual displays appear to the user as a gigantic 100-inch screen within their personal field of vision.
Unlike conventional laptops, whose screen size is physically limited, Spacetop allows for the flexible placement of applications on a spacious virtual workspace: messaging apps can be positioned to the side, large spreadsheets in the center, and documents stretched vertically. The software allows windows to be moved, rotated, and resized – similar to a multi-monitor setup, but without the physical constraints and with the added benefit of complete mobility.
A key advantage of the system is absolute privacy. Since only the wearer of the AR glasses can see the virtual screen content, sensitive information remains invisible to those around them – ideal for working in public areas such as trains, cafes, or airplanes. Spacetop's slogan, "For your eyes only," is quite literal here.
Technical requirements: Not every laptop is compatible
Using Spacetop for Windows has specific hardware requirements. The software is optimized for AI-enabled Windows laptops that support high-performance spatial computing. Specifically, Spacetop requires an Intel Core Ultra 7/9 processor with Meteor Lake architecture or newer. These processors have dedicated NPUs, which are essential for the continuous AI processing of the AR interface.
Recommended compatible laptops include:
- Dell XPS Core Ultra 7 (32GB)
- HP Elitebook
- Lenovo Yoga Slim
- ASUS Zenbook
- Acer Swift Go 14
- MS Surface Pro for Business (Ultra 7)
It's important to note that Spacetop currently does not work with Intel chips without NPUs, nor with AMD or Qualcomm AI CPUs. The software was developed in close collaboration with Intel to optimize performance on their platform. This included support in understanding Intel's NPU architecture and optimizations to ensure the AR software runs optimally.
Pricing and availability: Germany as the first international market
Spacetop for Windows will be available from April 24, 2025, for $899. The package includes:
– XREAL Air 2 Ultra AR glasses (retail price: US$699)
– 12-month subscription to Spacetop software (value: US$200)
After the first year, the subscription automatically renews for $200 per year. Users requiring vision correction can purchase optional prescription lenses for $50 (single-vision lenses) or $150 (progressive lenses). The solution supports corrections ranging from +6.00 to -9.00 diopters.
What's particularly noteworthy is that Spacetop for Windows, after its debut in the US, is now available internationally – with Germany as its first foreign market. This is made possible through a strategic partnership with Deutsche Telekom, which offers Spacetop to its B2B customers.
“Sightful’s Spacetop redefines mobile productivity with a virtual 100-inch workspace and offers our B2B customers secure, flexible and digitized solutions for the future of work,” explains Dr. Maximilian Ahrens, Senior Vice President, T Digital of Deutsche Telekom.
Use cases: For whom and for what purpose is Spacetop suitable?
Spacetop for Windows is primarily aimed at business customers and professional users who want to work productively from anywhere while maintaining their privacy. Deutsche Telekom highlights various use cases:
Home
Even with minimal space at home, users have maximum workspace thanks to the virtual screen. Spacetop is particularly suitable for data dashboards, security monitoring, or service applications.
From the road
On trains or airplanes, users can work comfortably without anyone being able to look at their screen – ideal for working with sensitive and confidential data.
In the office
The virtual screen is always available in the office – users can move freely and take their virtual desktop setup with them wherever they go. The solution is flexible and adaptable to different activities and contexts.
The solution's flexibility is particularly beneficial for frequent travelers who often need to open multiple applications simultaneously. Nick Kimber, Global Account Director at Ruckus, CommScope, confirms: “I travel a lot by plane or train and usually have 4-5 apps open at the same time, looking at all my different screens.”

Market classification and future prospects
Sightful positions its solution in a market increasingly shifting towards spatial computing and AI laptops. According to forecasts by Canalys, around 20% of PCs shipped in 2024 will be AI-enabled, and this figure is expected to rise to over 60% by 2027. This development benefits Sightful, as more and more potential customers will have the necessary hardware infrastructure.
“We founded Sightful in 2020 because we believe that augmented reality is the right direction for the future of personal computing. Big companies like Apple, Meta, and Google seem to agree that AR is the future. However, we are focused on delivering value now,” explains Tomer Kahan, co-founder and COO. “Spacetop is for people who need to work safely, comfortably, and efficiently today.”
Looking ahead, Sightful plans to expand its platform support. When asked about Mac support, CEO Tamir Berliner replied: “Yes, we are planning a version of Spacetop for Mac – the timing is still uncertain and depends on various factors such as laptops, chips, processing power, glasses, and more.”
The merging of AR and productive work
Spacetop for Windows marks an important step in the evolution of mobile working and demonstrates how augmented reality can offer tangible productivity benefits. Unlike many AR/VR solutions that are primarily focused on entertainment or specialized applications, Sightful's approach addresses everyday office work, making the technology relevant to a broader user group.
The combination of privacy, expanded workspace and mobility solves real problems faced by many professionals – be it limited space in the home office, the need for confidential work in public spaces, or the desire for a flexible workplace that works anywhere.
The partnership with Deutsche Telekom also underscores that established companies recognize the potential of this technology and are ready to offer it to their B2B customers. This could be an important factor for the broader acceptance and spread of AR in professional environments.
With Spacetop for Windows, Sightful shows that the much-cited “computer of the future” is no longer a distant vision, but is already finding practical application today – albeit still with certain hardware limitations and at a price that is primarily aimed at business customers.
