Der Bitcoin beispielsweise ist derzeit bei nur noch rund 4.000 US-Dollar wert und damit über 13.000 US-Dollar von seinem Allzeithoch aus dem Dezember 2017 entfernt. Andererseits üben Kyptowährungen weiterhin eine hohe Anziehungskraft auf Investoren aus. Kamen 2017 laut coindesk insgesamt rund 5,4 Milliarden US-Dollar bei sogenannten Initial Coin Offerings (ICO) zusammen, sind es in den ersten sieben Monaten des laufenden Jahres schon mehr als 16 Milliarden US-Dollar. Ein ICO funktioniert ähnlich wie der Börsengang eines Unternehmens – bloß werden hier statt Aktien Einheiten einer Digitalwährung an Anleger verkauft.
The big crypto coin hype is over. The Bitcoin, for example, is currently worth only around 4,000 US dollars and thus over 13,000 US dollars away from its all-time high of December 2017. On the other hand, Kypto currencies continue to exert a strong attraction on investors. According to coindesk, while in 2017 a total of around 5.4 billion US dollars were collected in so-called Initial Coin Offerings (ICO), in the first seven months of the current year the figure had already risen to more than 16 billion US dollars. An ICO works in a similar way to the IPO of a company – only instead of shares, units of a digital currency are sold to investors.
