Amazon * is by far the number 1 active online shop in Germany. In 2017, the company generated sales of around 8.8 billion euros in this country. Otto (3 billion euros) and Zalando (1.3 billion euros) follow far behind. The ranking of the top 10 online shops ** is part of the “E-Commerce Market Germany 2018” study published jointly by Statista and the EHI, which will be published for the tenth time in October. The study examines the German B2C e-commerce market from a supply perspective using a detailed analysis of the 1,000 largest online shops by sales.
* According to the annual report, total sales in Germany are around 15 billion euros. However, this includes service and subscription sales (AWS, Prime memberships, audible.de, etc.) as well as all exports from amazon.de abroad. The service sales, exports and sales of other Amazon offers were excluded from the German sales for www.amazon.de.
** eBay is not part of the ranking because, as a pure marketplace, the company generates its sales exclusively through commissions.
