Thanks to mobile games and eSports, the games industry has grown significantly in recent years. The biggest player is now Tencent: According to New Zoo, the company generated sales of $7.4 billion with its games division in the first half of 2017. In the same period last year it was still 4.9 billion US dollars.
Thanks to the purchase of the Finnish game developer Supercell, the Chinese company made more money from its smartphone games than from its PC games for the first time in Q2 2017.
Sony follows in second place with $4.3 billion, as the graphic from Statista shows. Activision Blizzard also increased sales compared to the same period last year and now has sales of $3.4 billion.
