The Federal Chancellery and federal ministries spent almost five million euros on sponsoring pages and posts on social networks in 2017. This emerges from a printed matter from the German Bundestag, which Motherboard recently reported on. Federal government funding spent on social media advertising has increased significantly over the past three years. In 2014, expenses amounted to a comparatively slim 153,841 euros. Four years earlier it was even less than 3,000 euros.
