Almost half of all social media users regularly clean up their contact list. There are hardly any differences between age groups, as the Statista graphic shows. A total of 46 percent of respondents in a recent Bitkom survey stated that they regularly check their contact list and unfriend or unfollow distant acquaintances, influencers who have become uninteresting, or friends with whom they have drifted apart.
So, if you suddenly find yourself unfriended with someone on Facebook or can no longer see their pictures on Instagram, you may have fallen victim to the digital spring cleaning of your contact list.
