Journal of Family Medicine and Primary Care, 259 people died while taking selfies between October 2011 and November 2017. The most frequent cause of death was drowning, accounting for 70 fatalities. This was followed by accidents involving vehicles (51) and falls (48). Most of the selfie-related deaths occurred in India (159). In contrast, Germans appear to be considerably more cautious when using their smartphone cameras – only one such death was reported in Germany.
