The 2018 fair opens its goals on Thursday. More than 1,000 national and international exhibitors will be represented in Essen. The exhibition offer includes board games of all kinds, children's, board, family and adult games-as well as strategy, postal, adventure, fantasy, science fiction and computer games. According to consumption and media analysis (VUMA), board and board games are played by two thirds of all Germans. In contrast, computer and video games are “only” an issue for around 43 percent. However, the number of intensive players (several times a month or more often) is significantly larger.
