Garden PV: Innovative solar solution for homes without a roof area

Inspired by the solar parking building: professional technology in your own garden

The Kiel company Dr. Metje Consulting GmbH is launching a new solution for homeowners who want to use solar energy but have no suitable roof areas. The kit, marketed as a “garden PV” or “mini solar park”, enables the installation of photovoltaic systems in private gardens with the promise of simple self-assembly and professional technology from the solar park construction.

Suitable for:

The product concept

The new mini solar park from Dr. Metje Consulting is designed for garden owners who are looking for an alternative to the classic roof photovoltaic system. The system is based on professional technology from the solar park construction and was adapted for private use. The basic idea is to use unused garden areas for electricity production, especially if the roof surfaces of a house are not suitable or too small.

The XXS Solar Park, as it is called by the manufacturer, can do completely without roof mounting and can be implemented in the do-it-yourself process with relatively little installation effort. The construction is designed in such a way that do-it-yourselfers can assume the installation of the frame and the modules themselves, while only electrical installation and commissioning must be left to an electric specialist company.

System variants and components

Dr. Metje offers the mini solar park in two different performance variants:

  • A smaller version with twelve modules and 5.34 kilowatts from 5,999 euros
  • A larger version with 21 modules and 9.34 kilowatts of power from 8,899 euros

The scope of delivery includes high -quality components that should ensure a long service life and reliable performance:

  • Glass glass modules by Trina Solar with an efficiency of 22.8 percent
  • 25 years of product guarantee and 30 years of performance guarantee on the modules
  • A robust substructure made of galvanized steel
  • A hybrid inverter from Solax Power with app control

In addition, the company offers optional extensions, including battery storage with capacities of three, six or nine kilowatt hours as well as a wall box for charging electric vehicles.

Technical details and installation

Space requirement and assembly

The smaller 5.34 kilowatt system requires a garden area of 6.80 by 3.50 meters, which corresponds to a base area of about 24 square meters. A major advantage of the system is that no concrete foundation is required, which simplifies the installation and minimizes the soil seal.

The entire system is delivered to two to four euro pallets, depending on the variant selected. This makes transport and handling manageable for do -it -yourselfers.

Approval situation

According to Dr. Metje Consulting is not required for garden photovoltaic systems in most federal states. This represents a further advantage over other structural measures that are often associated with an elaborate approval process. Nevertheless, interested parties should check the local building regulations in advance or inform themselves from the manufacturer.

Economic aspects and market comparison

Pricing

The pricing of the mini solar parks of Dr. Metje starts at 5,999 euros for the 5.34 kW variant and increases to 8,899 euros for the 9.34 kW version. These prices position the product in the medium to high segment of the market for private photovoltaic systems.

In a comment on an article about this product, however, criticism of the pricing was expressed. The commentator argues that a similar solution could be realized for around 2,000 euros, which is significantly below the price of the finished package. This assessment is based on a calculation of the individual components:

  • 13 modules of 420 WP (with delivery approx. 850 euros)
  • Self -made substructure with materials from the hardware store (approx. 150 euros)
  • Wiring (approx. 200 euros)
  • Inverter SungRow SH5.0RT (approx. 650 euros)

This price discrepancy reflects the typical difference between complete solutions and DIY approaches, with the complete package of Dr. Metje offers additional values such as planning, guarantees and support.

Marketing

The mini solar park by Dr. Metje is part of a growing market for alternative photovoltaic solutions that are specially developed for private users. In addition to the classic roof installation, various manufacturers now offer solutions for balconies, gardens or free -standing constructions.

Alternative systems on the market

PV gabion system

As an alternative to Dr. METJE offers Venturama Solar provider a PV gabion system. This system combines photovoltaic modules with gabions (stone -filled wire baskets) as a substructure. The advantages of this system lie in stability without anchoring and aesthetic integration in the garden design.

The PV-Labion system is suitable for various soil types, including flat floors, and can even be installed in water protection areas after appropriate approval. The price for a system with four yes Solar Jam54d40 modules (450 WP each) and a Hymiles HMS-1600 inverter is around 999 euros, whereby the stones for filling the gabions are not included.

Mini solar systems for the socket

Another alternative is pocket-ready mini solar systems that can be connected directly to a Schukosteck socket. These systems, often referred to as “balcony power plants”, consist of one to two solar panels and a module inverter.

The assembly can be made flexible - on the garage roof, in the allotment garden, on the house wall, on the garden fence or on the balcony parapet. With prices from around 500 euros, these systems are significantly cheaper than larger open space systems, but also offer a correspondingly lower power.

Some of these balcony systems are now also available with integrated storage that can save non -consumed solar power for the night hours. For example, BASBA offers a PV balcony system with 900 WP PV output and a 1,600 WH LIFEPO-4 battery storage.

Business background Dr. Metje Consulting

Expertise and portfolio

The Dr. Metje Consulting GmbH is an experienced player in the field of renewable energies based in Kiel. The company has been on the market for more than 15 years and has specialized in the implementation of photovoltaic systems - from large solar parks to commercial roofing in Germany and in other European countries.

The previous projects include a 10.46 MW solar park with 9 MW battery storage in Stralsund, a 5.6 MWP Solarpark Voigdehagen II, a PV roofing system for the Störtebeker Brewerfacture and a 6.6 MWP solar park in Nunkirchen.

The company offers an all-round carefree package for PV projects that include development, financing, planning, construction and service. Customers according to their own statements include national and international groups, owner -managed small and medium -sized companies as well as cities, municipalities and municipalities.

Energy transition in the green: How the mini solar park opened new paths

With the mini solar park for gardens, Dr. Metje Consulting has a solution for a solution for private individuals who want to make their energy supply more sustainable. The system closes a gap for homeowners who have no suitable roof surfaces for a classic photovoltaic system, but have sufficient garden space.

The advantages of the system - simple self -assembly, no need for a foundation, high -quality components and optionally expandable functionality - are offset by a relatively high purchase price. Whether this investment is worthwhile depends on individual factors, such as personal electricity consumption, local electricity prices and any funding.

In the context of the energy transition and the growing need for decentralized electricity generation, Dr. Metje is another component that gives more people access to renewable energies. The increasing variety of photovoltaic solutions-from balcony power plants to gabion systems to mini solar parks-offers consumers more flexibility in deciding how they want to integrate solar energy into their everyday life.
