Munich again Center of Solar Technology 2025
The Intersolar Europe 2025, the world's leading trade fair for the solar industry, opens its goals on the exhibition center in Munich from May 7th to 9th, 2025. With the motto “Connecting Solar Business”, the event has brought together the most important players in the industry for over 30 years. This year, visitors can expect numerous innovative technologies and future -oriented solutions for solar energy.
Basic data of the fair
The Intersolar Europe 2025 takes place as part of “The Smarter E Europe”, Europe's largest trade fair alliance for the energy industry. With 1,450 exhibitors on an area of 105,500 m², the fair shows the enormous dynamics of the solar industry. Overall, 2,738 exhibitors and more than 100,000 visitors are expected on the entire “The Smarter E Europe” event, which also includes the trade fairs EES Europe, Power2Drive Europe and EM power Europe.
Technological breakthroughs in solar cells
Tandem solar cells: efficiency leap
One of the outstanding highlights of the fair is the progress in Perowskit-Silicon-Solar cells. This latest generation of solar cells in layers combines the semiconductor materials silicon and perovskit and promises efficiency of up to 45 percent. The Chinese manufacturer Longi presents a new world record at the fair: a crystalline silicon-perovskit tandem solar cell with an efficiency of 34.85 percent certified by the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). Longi also announces a new back contact photovoltaic module on the occasion of the Intersolar.
Made in Germany
IBC Solar presents a new “Made in Germany” own brand module with 2D matrix technology, which is considered one of the highlights at the company's booth.
Storage as a key technology
Trina Storage, the memory of the Chinese photovoltaic manufacturer Trinasolar, presents the 5 mWH energy storage system Elementa 2 Pro. The battery venue is compactly built and has an innovative hybrid cooling technology, which should hold the cell temperature differences even under extreme conditions at a maximum of 2.5 ° C. With 314-AH cells, the memory is intended to offer an impressive lifespan of up to 15,000 cycles and, thanks to a three-stage electrical protection system, meet the highest safety standards.
Hybrid power plants: Integration of renewable energies
The VSB Group, which has been part of the total energy group since 2025, presents its current activities in the field of photovoltaics and hybrid energy solutions. The focus is on projects that combine wind and solar energy with battery storage. Particularly noteworthy is a project in Poland, where one of the largest combined PV and memory projects in the country is created with around 300 MWP.
Innovative assembly systems
IBC Solar extends its portfolio with the IBC Wallfix facade system, a solution for the wall mounting of PV modules. The system offers universal fastening options for various wall types such as brick, trapezoidal sheet or concrete. In addition, the company shows its complete holder portfolio for sloping and flat roofs as well as commercial roofs with a tendency.
The Smarter E Award 2025
On the eve of the fair, the winners of The Smarter E Award 2025 were honored in an official ceremony. In the five categories of photovoltaics, energy storage, e-mobility, smart integrated energy and outsanding projects, three equivalent winners were awarded. The award -winning solutions are presented during the fair and the winners are available for discussions and exchange.
Research and Development
The Fraunhofer ISE shows selected highlights from various areas of solar research, including agri photovoltaics, materials, cells and production technology, module technology, PV module quality, electrical energy storage and power electronics. The researchers of the institute are also represented with numerous lectures and workshops at the fair and the accompanying conference.
