Internet of Things will become commonplace by 2020

The term “Internet of Things” (IoT) describes, simply put, the networking of electronic devices with the internet. This does not include PCs, tablets, and smartphones. Examples of IoT devices include smart thermostats, traffic management systems, and street lighting. According to a recent study by Gartner, 3.8 billion devices worldwide are currently connected to the internet, 1.8 billion of which are in the consumer sector. Analysts predict that by 2020, with 25 billion connected devices, the IoT will have become commonplace.
