The use of dashcams in road traffic is regulated differently or not at all in other European countries. The infographic shows in which countries, according to ADAC research, dashcam use is currently unproblematic (green), only possible with permission (yellow), or where ADAC advises against its use (red). ADAC not yet issued a clear recommendation for Germany. The German Federal Court of Justice (BGH) today ruled that dashcam recordings are admissible as evidence in court proceedings. However, dashcam recordings still violate data protection laws in Germany. According to the BGH, this does not preclude the use of these recordings in court proceedings in Germany. Each case must be assessed individually by the court.
