⚡️ Energy self-sufficiency through green hydrogen

They quickly decided on the innovative solar-hydrogen system from HPS Home Power Solutions. “My employer WeberHaus asked me whether I would be interested in taking part in an innovative pilot project,” remembers Fatih Karadeniz. After a visit to the production facility in Berlin, the decision to use the Picea power storage system was easy.

This system consists of several components: On sunny days, the solar energy is stored in a battery. Excess solar power is preserved in the form of hydrogen using electrolysis, which can be used in the long term. The resulting heat is temporarily stored in a hot water tank. In winter, the stored hydrogen is used again to generate electricity in a fuel cell. “In the sunny months we can cover all of our electricity needs ourselves. The hydrogen storage facilities are already full at the end of May. In winter we use the long-term hydrogen storage and generate our own electricity,” explains Fatih Karadeniz proudly. The feeling of being self-sufficient and independent of large electricity providers brings the family great joy.

🏡 Living feeling: Open, bright and cozy

Another important concern for the family was the design and distribution of the ground floor. Thanks to the flexibility of WeberHaus, they were able to implement their individual wishes. A large, open and light-filled living area was at the top of the priority list. The family has achieved this goal with an area of ​​around 50 square meters for the kitchen, dining and living room. Large window elements allow plenty of daylight into the house and create a connection to the garden. No wonder that Fatih Karadeniz's favorite place is in the open kitchen, from where he can see everything and the family comes together at the dining table. The furnishings are in Scandinavian style - simple, timeless and inspired by natural elements. A warm parquet floor, which Fatih laid himself, perfectly complements the Nordic living feeling. “We did a lot of things ourselves: filling and painting work, all the floors, the interior doors and the entire outdoor area,” says the proud builder.

On the ground floor there is also an office, a guest toilet and a utility room that is directly connected to the garage. The folded staircase with glass railing, which leads to the upper floor, adds a particularly elegant touch. There, in the light-flooded gallery, additional light falls into the entrance area. Nejla and Fatih have adapted the room layout on the upper floor to their needs: instead of three children's rooms, there are two, and the parents' bedroom has an adjoining dressing room. The bathroom is more generously sized and instead of an additional shower room, there is a practical storage room.

“We feel really comfortable in our home,” says Nejla Karadeniz happily. When asked whether they would do anything differently in retrospect, only two things come to mind: “The window in the kitchen could be wider and we would like a larger side panel on the front door.”

The basis for the energy efficiency of this modern city villa is the excellently insulated building shell called ÖvoNatur Therm. This consists of the renewable building material wood, which binds CO2 and releases oxygen, making an active contribution to climate protection.
