Facebook in a permanent data crisis

Since the Cambridge Analytica data scandal broke in April 2018, Facebook has been in turmoil. As early as June, the world's largest social network had to admit to another glitch. Software errors unintentionally set user posts to "public"—affecting 14 million accounts. However, the latest incident, affecting 50 million user accounts, is significantly more serious. Hackers apparently exploited a security vulnerability. The attackers were likely after so-called access tokens, digital keys that can be used to take over other users' accounts.
