When it comes to their social media preferences, US teenagers are about as loyal as Brutus to Caesar. Back in 2013, Facebook was the preferred social network. In 2014, Instagram briefly took the throne before being replaced by Snapchat in 2016.
Now, in the spring of 2019, Snapchat is still number one for teens in the United States, but Instagram is gaining ground. According to the latest edition of PiperJaffray's biannual " Taking Stock With Teens " survey, 41 percent of the roughly 8,000 teens surveyed named Snapchat as their favorite social media platform, while 35 percent chose Instagram.
The popularity of Snapchat and Instagram is clearly coming at the expense of Facebook and Twitter, which seem to be becoming less and less attractive to the target group of teenagers.
