It's annoying, here's my criticism: Every week I receive numerous inquiries from "experts for reach and visibility" – Image: Xpert.Digital
💡 I receive numerous requests every week
🌟 Every week I receive numerous requests from so-called "experts in reach and visibility"—that is, professionals in the fields of marketing and PR. They want me to publish their articles on my industry hub because, in their opinion, they would be a thematic fit with my content.
Oh, that's interesting! Or is it rather that my industry blog serves their topic, which they want to monetize? Of course, one can't say that so directly without seeming rude. However, this approach remains audacious.
The proposed "editorial enrichment" consists of giving my readers the opportunity to directly test the offered products or services and thus gain a more comprehensive overview. Really, this "editorial enrichment" is supposed to benefit me? Not a word about me making my readers available as potential customers for free. And some even top it all off by demanding that I provide a "backlink" to their website for this great content that I received for free and so graciously.
🛠️ I run an ad-free blog
I run an ad-free blog and industry hub, which I use for my work with my partners. This means I write articles and handle PR for products and services in which my partners and I are involved. I support projects from the initial consultation and planning stages through to successful implementation. It's not just about content creation and PR, but about comprehensive support, implementation, and collaboration.
Over the years, I've built my own reach and independence. I don't spend my time on LinkedIn or other social networks bombarding contacts with supposedly attractive offers. Instead, I focus on creating high-quality content and building relationships.
📉 Interestingly, it is precisely these “experts” who
Interestingly, these very "experts in reach and visibility" often lack any significant reach themselves and use platforms like LinkedIn for free to network commercially. These supposed experts often cost companies between €50,000 and €80,000 per year (in addition to these salary costs, marketing and PR budgets in the high five- to six-figure range are typically added, mostly for automation tools, AI, or research aids), yet they still rely on blogs, hubs, or platforms like mine to distribute their content. They expect me to do them a favor by publishing their posts "free of charge." And I'm supposed to be grateful for this, since my readers supposedly have the advantage of trying out the products or services they offer.
⚖️ One of the biggest challenges
One of the biggest challenges in maintaining integrity and quality on my blog is keeping this balance. I want to ensure that the content remains authentic and useful without being diluted by external commercial interests. This means that every piece of published information must be carefully reviewed and placed within the context of my existing content.
Beyond their lack of independence and reach, these "experts" often lack an understanding of what it means to build genuine, long-term relationships with an audience. While social media may make it easier to accumulate likes and followers, true expertise and trustworthiness require more than just visibility. It's about consistency, experience, and the ability to deliver valuable, relatable insights.
🔧 Working with my partners
My work with my partners therefore goes far beyond simple articles and PR texts. It's a holistic approach where consulting, engineering, and implementation seamlessly integrate. My partners rely on me not only to promote their products and services but also to actively contribute to their success. This means deep insights into their respective industries, a clear understanding of market demands, and the ability to develop innovative solutions.
Another important aspect is independence. In the digital age, there is an increasing risk of getting lost in the flood of information or compromising one's values for short-term gain. Beyond the ad-heavy platforms that no longer inspire trust or integrity, the challenge lies in always making this distinction clearly and consciously. It is essential to maintain both one's own integrity and the trust of the readership. Ultimately, it is this trust that defines a truly valued platform – a platform where readers know they will find reliable, carefully curated information and analysis, without commercial interests taking precedence.
🌱 The maintenance and development of such an independent and credible platform
Maintaining and building such an independent and credible platform is neither a simple nor a quick process. It requires dedication, passion, consistency, and a clearly defined vision. But it's worth taking this path to create genuine and lasting value, both for our partners and our loyal readership. And that's precisely what motivates me every day: the certainty that quality and integrity will always endure, regardless of the short-term trends and temptations of the digital world.
