💡 I receive numerous requests every week
🌟 Every week I receive numerous inquiries from so-called “reach and visibility experts” – experts in the field of marketing and PR. They want me to publish their articles on my industry hub because they think they would fit the topic of my content.
Oh, that's interesting! Or is it not more a matter of my industry blog serving your topic that you want to monetize? Of course, you can't say that so directly if you don't want to seem rude. However, this approach remains cheeky.
The proposed “editorial enrichment” is that my readers would have the opportunity to test the products or services offered directly and thus gain a more comprehensive overview. Really, this “editorial enrichment” is supposed to be my advantage? Not a word about making my readers available as potential customers for free. And some people top it all off by asking me to provide this great content, which I received free of charge and graciously, with a “backlink” to their website.
🛠️ I run an ad-free blog
I run an ad-free blog or industry hub that I use for my work with my partners. This means that I write articles and do PR for products and services that my partners and I are involved in. I accompany projects from consulting through planning to successful implementation. So it's not just about pure content creation and PR, but also about comprehensive support, implementation and collaboration.
Over the years I have developed my own reach and independence. I don't spend my time on LinkedIn or other social networks harassing contacts with supposedly attractive offers. Instead, I focus on creating quality content and relationships.
📉 Interestingly, it is precisely these “experts”
Interestingly, it is precisely these “reach and visibility experts” who themselves hardly have any significant reach and who use platforms like LinkedIn for free to make commercial contacts. These alleged experts often cost companies between 50,000 and 80,000 euros per year (In addition to these wage costs, there are usually marketing and PR budgets in the high five to six figure range, mostly for automation tools, AI or research aids.) and still rely on blogs, hubs or platforms like mine to distribute their content. They expect me to do them a favor by publishing their contributions “free of charge”. And I should be grateful for that, as my readers would have the supposed advantage of trying out the products or services on offer.
⚖️ One of the biggest challenges
One of the biggest challenges in maintaining integrity and quality on my blog is maintaining this balance. I want to ensure that the content remains authentic and useful without being diluted by outside commercial interests. This means that every information published must be carefully examined and placed in the context of my existing content.
Aside from their lack of autonomy and reach, these “experts” often lack an understanding of what it means to build real, long-term relationships with a target audience. Social media may make it easier to collect likes and followers, but true expertise and trustworthiness require more than just visibility. It's about consistency, experience and the ability to provide valuable, actionable insights.
🔧 Working with my partners
The work with my partners therefore goes far beyond simple articles and PR texts. It is a holistic approach in which consulting, engineering and implementation intertwine seamlessly. My partners rely on me not only to promote their products and services, but also to actively contribute to their success. This means deep insights into the respective industries, a clear understanding of market requirements and the ability to develop innovative solutions.
Another important aspect is independence. In the digital age, there is an increased risk of getting lost in the flood of information or compromising your values for short-term benefits. Apart from the advertising-laden platforms that do not create any trust or integrity: the challenge is to always make this distinction clearly and consciously. It is essential to maintain both your own integrity and the trust of your readers. Ultimately, it is this trust that creates a truly valued platform - one where readers know they will find reliable, carefully curated information and analysis without commercial interests at the forefront.
🌱 Maintaining and building such an independent and credible platform
Maintaining and building such an independent and credible platform is not an easy or short process. It requires dedication, passion, consistency and a clearly defined vision. But it's worth taking this path in order to create real and sustainable added value, both for your own partners and for your loyal readership. And that is exactly what motivates me every day: the certainty that quality and integrity will always endure, regardless of the short-term trends and temptations of the digital world.
