The vast majority of Germans consider artificial intelligence (AI) to be useful. This emerges from a current survey by the auditing and consulting firm PwC. For example, almost half of those surveyed believe that AI will prove useful in the area of cybersecurity in the future. But the study participants also have a lot of confidence in non-human minds in the fight against climate change and in cancer research.
What is artificial intelligence?
80 percent of Germans surveyed for a Pegasystems believe they know what artificial intelligence (AI) is all about. A majority understands this to be the ability of devices and software to think logically (58 percent), learn (57 percent) and solve problems (52 percent). In contrast, only 15 percent mentioned emotions as an AI characteristic. It would be interesting to know whether it was an openly formulated question . That would certainly explain how answers like “controlling the human mind” or “taking over the world” made it into the study.
