Artificial intelligence, opportunity or risk?
62 percent of the participants in a current Bitkom Research survey see artificial intelligence (AI) more as an opportunity. Almost every fifth question even believes that AI is already noticeably changing society. "One reason for this positive development is likely to be the increasing use of AI applications in everyday life," said the makers of the study. Cutners see the possibilities of use in a wide variety of areas of life. 68 percent want AI to support the elderly. Just as many respondents want doctors to use AI, for example in diagnostics or in the selection of the best possible therapy. And also around two thirds would like to have AI applications in offices and authorities.
In a survey from September things looked different: Germans see more risk than benefit in AI
Artificial intelligence will fundamentally change our society, that is certain. Germans disagree about whether these changes will be positive or negative, as a survey by YouGov shows . While 15 percent of all respondents believe that the benefits of AI are greater than the risks, 26 percent think the opposite. Almost half of Germans suspect that risk and damage are balanced.
Depending on the age group, attitudes towards artificial intelligence differ only minimally; baby boomers have the greatest doubts about the benefits of the technology, while millennials can at best be described as AI-agnostic.
