Around nine out of ten young people in this country use social online services every day. The most popular is WhatsApp, followed by Snapchat. However, two-thirds of those surveyed do not find it acceptable that a lot of data is disclosed and used by companies for advertising purposes. But most services are financed via this same business model. But more than half (56 percent) of young people would not be willing to pay for data protection, according to a recent survey by the German Economic Institute (IW). As the graphic shows, up to five euros would be conceivable for 16 percent, and 12 percent would also pay five to ten euros per month for their data protection. 14 percent would pay ten to 30 euros for data security, while three percent would pay more than 30 euros.
