CB Insights has counted 19 initial public offerings (IPOs) of US tech companies this year – the same number as last year. Whether there will be more in 2019 remains to be seen. However, what can already be said with some certainty is that some truly large IPOs are on the horizon. First and foremost is Uber. The still unprofitable ride-sharing provider is expected to go public as early as the first quarter. According to CB Insights analysts, the company could raise up to $120 billion. Airbnb, Pinterest, and Slack are also three other major tech companies under serious consideration for an IPO.
