Sightful, a pioneer in the field of augmented reality, introduced a groundbreaking software solution on April 24, 2025 with “Spacetop for Windows” that transforms regular Windows laptops into Immersive's work environments. The solution combines AR glasses with modern AI PC technology and thereby creates a virtual 100-inch working area that can be taken anywhere. According to the original hardware-oriented approach, the company is now focusing on a software solution that was specially developed for the growing category of AI laptops and is also available in Germany for the first time-a significant step for mobile productivity and privacy at work.

From hardware to software: sightfuls strategic realignment
Sightful, founded in 2020 by former Magic leaves managers, has specialized in augmented reality solutions for the productive work area since its foundation. The company had originally developed a complete AR laptop with the “Spacetop G1”, which was offered as an independent hardware product for $ 1,900. With the introduction of “Spacetop for Windows”, Sightful is now taking a strategic change towards a pure software solution for existing Windows laptops.

During the four -year development phase, the most common request from users and companies was: "When will it be available for Windows?" The spread of AI laptops with dedicated NPUS (Neural Processing Units) not only accelerated the company's mission, but also opened new opportunities for AR work areas in combination with AI performance.
For Sightful, the transition to a software solution also meant a restructuring-originally 60 employees in 2024 to currently 35 after the company separated from its hardware team. Despite this reduction, the company has raised impressive $ 61 million in risk capital.
How it works: virtual 100-inch displays everywhere
Spacetop for Windows transforms regular Windows laptops into powerful AR working stations. The heart of the system forms the software, which, in combination with AR glasses, creates an immersive, private and unlimited virtual area of work. The virtual displays appear to the user as a gigantic 100-inch screen in the personal field of vision.
In contrast to conventional laptops, the screen size of which is physically limited, Spacetop allows the flexible placement of applications on a extensive virtual work surface: messaging apps can be placed on the side, huge tables in the center and documents are extended vertically. The software makes it possible to move windows, turn and change the size-similar to a multi-monitor setup, but without the physical restriction and with the additional advantage of full mobility.
An important advantage of the system is absolute privacy. Since only the carrier of the AR glasses can see the virtual screen content, sensitive information remains invisible to the environment-ideal for work in public areas such as trains, cafes or aircraft. The Spacetop slogan “For Your Eyes only” (only for your eyes) is literally the case here.
Technical requirements: Not every laptop is compatible
The use of Spacetop for Windows places specific requirements for the hardware. The software is especially optimized for AI-capable Windows laptops that support powerful spatial computing. Specifically, Spacetop needs an Intel Core Ultra 7/9 processor with Meteor Lake Architecture or Neuer. These special processors have dedicated NPUs, which are essential for the continuous AI processing of the AR interface.

It is important to note that spacetop is currently not working with Intel chips without NPUs or with AMD or Qualcomm AI CPUs. The software was developed in close cooperation with Intel to optimize the performance on its platform. This also included support in understanding the NPU architecture of Intel and optimizations in order to run the AR software optimally.
Pricing and availability: Germany as the first international market
Spacetop for Windows is available from April 24, 2025 for $ 899. Included in the package:
-XReal Air 2 Ultra AR glasses (retail price: $ 699)
-12-month subscription for the spacetop software (value: $ 200)
After the first year, the subscription is automatically extended for $ 200 per year. Users who need a visual correction can purchase optional glasses with condensation for $ 50 (one-off glasses) or $ 150 (varifocal glasses). The solution supports corrections in the range of +6.00 to -9.00 diopters.
It is particularly noteworthy that Spacetop for Windows is now also available internationally after his debut in the USA - with Germany as the first foreign market. This is made possible by a strategic partnership with Deutsche Telekom, which Spacetop offers its B2B customers.

Even in minimal space at home, users have maximum work surface thanks to the virtual screen. Spacetop is particularly suitable for data dashboards, security monitoring or service applications.

In trains or aircraft, users can work comfortably without anyone looking at their screen - ideal for working with sensitive and confidential data.
In the office
The virtual screen is always included in the office-users can move freely and take their virtual desktop setup with them anywhere. The solution is flexible and situational to different activities and topic contexts.
The flexibility of the solution benefits particularly frequently traveling, which often have to open several applications at the same time. Sightful positions its solution in a market that is increasingly developing towards Spatial Computing and AI laptops. According to Canalys forecasts, around 20% of the PCs delivered will be AI compatible in 2024, and this share is to increase to over 60% by 2027.
