Während große Einzelhändler wie Walmart, Target oder Home Depot die Importliste dominieren, beschäftigen sich die größten US-Exporteure mit Produkten, die die Fantasie nicht anregen, wie Papier, oder die Amerikaner lieber vergessen würden, wie ihren Müll. Von den sieben größten US-Exporteuren befassen sich vier mit Wertstoffen. Andere Produkte, die in großen Mengen exportiert werden, sind Verpackungen, Chemikalien und Tierfutter, so die Branchenpublikation JOC.

Während Walmart 2,2 Millionen Mitarbeiter beschäftigt, hat das Papier- und Kunststoffrecyclingunternehmen mit Sitz in City of Industry, Kalifornien, laut Zoominfo nur 200. Ihre Container voller alter Pappe und Kunststoffrecycling werden hauptsächlich nach China verschifft.
